SRMS ENGINEERING COLLEGE’s FIRST LIT-MUN SPARKS GLOBAL DEBATE on PREVENTING TERRORISM FINANCING

First LIT–MUN Inspires Students to Think Beyond Borders

The Literary Club of SRMS College of Engineering and Technology (CET), Bareilly organized the First Edition of LIT–Model United Nations (MUN) with an aim to develop global perspective, communication skills, and diplomatic thinking among students. The central agenda of LIT–MUN focused on ‘Preventing Extremism and Terrorism Financing’, encouraging meaningful global dialogue and policy formulation.

Students from all SRMS Trust institutions participated enthusiastically, researching for a month on global issues. Delegates represented nations across three blocs — Bloc 1: India, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Afghanistan; Bloc 2: Singapore, China, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan; Bloc 3: France, Germany, Australia, USA, Israel. All blocs presented their draft resolutions and policies, leading to long and constructive debates. However, after extensive deliberations, Bloc 2’s proposal was finally adopted. The event concluded with prize distribution ceremony:

  • Best Delegate:Krishnakshi (MBBS)
  • High Commendation:Riya Rastogi (B Tech)
  • Special Mention:Kushagra Gupta (B Tech)
  • Best Position Paper:Shikhar Mehrotra (B Tech)

Earlier, Shri Dev Murti, Chairman, SRMS Trust inaugurated the event and encouraged students to learn from every experience. In his inspiring address, Dr Prabhakar Gupta, Principal CET, highlighted the youth’s role in establishing global peace and resolving conflicts through dialogue. Dignitaries present included Dr Ritu Singh, Vice Principal, CET; Dr Saurabh Gupta, DSW; Dr Saty Dev, Assistant Professor ME Department, along with Literary Club Chairperson Vanshika Sharma & other club members.
