After yesterday’s Inauguration Ceremony and Workshop, today the first part of the 5th North Zone Critical Care Conference and SRMS PulmoCrit (5-7 October) was successfully held at Jim Corbett, Ramnagar, Nainital. The Conference is being organized by Department of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly in association with ISCCM, Bareilly Chapter. More than 70 eminent guest speakers and over 300 delegates are expected to participate in the Conference.

The first part of the Conference held today consisted of 5 thematic sessions: Sepsis, Antibiotics, Respiratory Medicine, Tropical and Fungal Infections, and Neurotrauma. Over 50 medical practitioners, teachers, and researchers from acclaimed institutions from across the country participated as session chairperson and speaker. The guest speakers spoke on a range of topics: from management of neurological infections in traumatic brain injury, antibiotic stewardship in the era of MDR infections, and newer biomarkers in sepsis to diagnosis and management of VAP and Myocardial Dysfunction in sepsis.

The 5th North Zone Critical Care Conference and SRMS PulmoCrit aims to showcase contemporary and futuristic trends in Critical Care and Pulmonary Medicine to support improvement in treatment of patients by doctors and teaching of medical students by faculty members. Keeping this objective in view, the programme has been carefully designed to meet the needs of Pulmonologists, Intensivists, Anaesthesiologists, Neurosurgeons, Cardiologists, Gynaecologists, Physicians, and Surgeons. Over two days (6 and 7 October), lectures and presentations will be made by well-known experts from leading institutions including Apollo, Army Research and Referral (R & R) Hospital, Tata Memorial Hospital, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Medanta, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, P.D. Hinduja Hospital, BLK Super Speciality Hospital, and Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College.

Yesterday, at the Workshop organized in SRMS IMS, Bareilly, there was a Master Class followed by sessions on Imaging, Fluids and Electrolytes, and ARDS. In the thematic session, Dr. Narendra Rungta had delivered the Keynote Address on ’10 things that I have learnt in Critical Care Medicine’.

There is much excitement in anticipation of the second and final part of the Conference which will be held tomorrow.
