SRMS IBS and SRMS CET host 5th National Conference on ‘Driving Growth through Strategic Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Digitization’

On 1 December, Shri Ram Murti Smarak International Business School (SRMS IBS), Lucknow and Faculty of Management Sciences, Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology (SRMS CET), Bareilly jointly organized the 5th National Conference on ‘Driving Growth through Strategic Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Digitization’ at SRMS IBS, Lucknow.

Professor Muhammad Muzammil (Former Vice Chancellor, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra and Former Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly) was the Chief Guest at the Conference. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Muzammil emphasized on the four big forces impacting the growth of the economy: international economic organization, MOUs with international governments, multinational companies, and non-government organizations. For students and members of the audience, the key learning from his address centered around spontaneous entrepreneurship and the difference between positive growth, ruthless growth, equitable growth, and roteless growth.

Chairing the first technical session, Mr. Milind Raj (Founder, MondaTech Solutions Private Limited) spoke about the various applications of disruptive innovations including Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and Virtual Reality. Mr. Raj stressed on the need for students to be more innovative and experimental in their approach to learning. Talking about J.K. Rowling, Bill Gates, and Walt Disney, he also underlined the importance of understanding the failures experienced by highly successful people in the lives.

Professor A.K. Sengupta (Former Acting Vice Chancellor, Lucknow University) chaired the second technical session. He highlighted the relevance of various five-year plans and their impact on the economy. Discussing various crises, structural adjustment programmes, Fiscal Deficit, and Foreign Exchange, Professor Sengupta emphasized onthe need to develop skills, make better decisions, and create a healthy work culture that encouraged growth.

In his address, Professor Shyamal Gupta (Director, SRMSIBS) presented a broad overview of E-commerce and Artificial Intelligence in the global market with special reference to China. Talking about the three dimensions of growth in the economy – disintermediation, disagreement, and dematerialization – Professor Gupta highlighted the serious need to invest more in Artificial Intelligence as another path leading towards growth.

In the student category, three papers were selected as the best research papers. The paper on ‘Digital Nomads’, authored by Ritesh Kumar, Sharad Tiwari, and Anamika Shukla of SRMSIBS, won the top honours in the research paper presentation session.

The highlight of the conference was the release of the Conference Proceedings. Comprising 35 articles contributed by research scholars, academicians, and students, the volume was edited by Professor Ekta Rastogi (Conference Convener). With participation from reputed management institutions, the 5th National Conference was truly instrumental in enriching the knowledge base on ‘Driving Growth through Strategic Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Digitization’.
