Time spent at your engineering college is not just about getting a degree that offers new prospects for professional growth. It is also a window of opportunity to experience student life to the full. Deepa Gangwar, B.Tech. – EE (Batch 2014-18) student at Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology (SRMS CET), Bareilly shares her experience at the college. From getting industry exposure to gaining independence through hostel life and building a support system with her friends, she talks of her wholesome life at the institute.
Hostel life brings a sense of independence
It was the first time Deepa was living in a hostel and, of course, she had anxieties. But thankfully she was instantly made to feel comfortable on campus. It has now become her second home and has given her a sense of independence she thrives in. “The hostel warden and caretaker are like our parents in times of emergency. In fact, we have a nice homely atmosphere here. We interact with seniors and juniors comfortably and experience lovely bonding.”
Support network to bank on
According to Deepa, her experience at SRMS is complete thanks to the friends she has made on campus. They have become her lifelines: they see her through difficult times, while sharing happy moments. The college has created several avenues where she can regularly share fun moments with her friends. “Here I have made friends from all over the country. We hang out in the lush garden or play basketball and table tennis. We can relax and not get bogged down by external pressures.”
Infrastructure on par with the best
SRMS CET endeavours to offer students a holistic learning experience. The classroom lessons are boosted by practical learning in well-equipped laboratories. Deepa believes the infrastructure and state-of-the-art amenities on campus ensure students have easy access to the best learning resources. “The library has all the books, journals, and publications that support our classroom learning. Our knowledge is complemented by strong laboratory facilities. Practical learning is crucial for all engineers who want to make a difference.”
Advantage of industry exposure
Deepa asserts that SRMS does its best to offer comprehensive learning experience, from basic knowledge to practical training and hands-on industry exposure. Since she studies several subjects related to Power, she is happy to find Generators, Transformers, and other equipment for power generation and control in the labs. “In my second year, we had an industrial visit to Roze power plant. The Reliance coal-based power plant helped me visualize the impact of concepts learned in the class. A unique experience, only possible at SRMS!”
