The six-day long grand theatre festival ‘INDRADHANUSH—RANG MAHOTSAV 2022’ conducted by and at Riddhima—A Centre of Performing and Fine Arts, affiliated to Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh (Chhattisgarh), shall come to its end on November 06, 2022 with the showcasing of its last play on DAY-6 titled ‘HI HANDSOME!, a presentation of Universal Little Theatre, Kolkata.
Written by Jay Vardhan and Directed by Pratap Jaiswal, a one hour and 35 minutes play touches upon the problem of loneliness in the life of elderly persons, particularly widowers and widows, in the contemporary society. The play showcases the dealing with the social upheaval, which the most natural solution to the issue of the loneliness in their life—remarriage—may cause. The play beautifully projects and highlights how an uncompromising pursuit of career can lead to unhappiness and tension in marital life. The light-vein treatment of such social issues has been exhibited in the play quite well, which further drives the points home while making the audience laugh.
