WHEN AWARENESS ENTERS THE OPERATION THEATRE: SRMS IMS TURNS WORLD BRAIN TUMOR DAY INTO A LIFE-SAVING LESSON

Brain tumours don’t always announce their arrival. Sometimes, the warning signs are subtle. The consequences, however, can be life-changing.
Marking World Brain Tumor Day (June 8), the Department of Neurosurgery at SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly transformed awareness into action through a unique programme focused on the importance of early diagnosis, timely treatment, and better outcomes for brain tumor patients.

The highlight of the event was an enriching session and lives surgical demonstration by renowned neurosurgical expert Prof Dr Awadhesh Jaiswal, HOD, Department of Neurosurgery, SGPGI, Lucknow, who shared valuable insights on brain tumors, their symptoms, diagnosis, and evolving treatment options. Through live operative training, case discussions, and interactive sessions, participants gained firsthand exposure to the critical role of early intervention in saving lives.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Dev Murti, Chairman, SRMS Trust, reaffirmed SRMS IMS’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare through seamless collaboration among super-specialty and allied departments while ensuring advanced treatment remains accessible and affordable in Bareilly.

The programme was organized under the guidance of Aditya Murti (Director Administration), Dr MS Butola (Principal, IMS), Dr SK Sagar (Dean PG), Dr Sharat Johari (Professor, Department of Neurology), and Dr RP Singh (Medical Superintendent). The event also witnessed the presence of leading physicians, radiologists, and neurologists from across Bareilly, including Dr Anu Tyagi, Dr RK Mahajan, Dr Sudhir Gupta, Dr Satish Kumar, Dr Amit Khanna, Dr Kamal Jindal, and Dr Manish Gupta.

From the Department of Neurosurgery, Prof Dr Keshav Mohan Jha (HOD, M.Ch.) welcomed the guests, while Dr Shashank Sah (Associate Professor, M.Ch.) coordinated the programme and Dr Praveen Tripathi (Associate Professor, M.Ch.) delivered the vote of thanks.
