BUDDING MEDICOS OF SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES MOTIVATES & SPREADS AWARENESS ON ORGAN DONATION THROUGH EMOTIVE POEMS!
Marking National Organ Donation Month along with National Organ Donation Day (August 3), the Connexus Club of Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly in collaboration with Department of Community Medicine & Department of Ophthalmology organized ‘Kavi Sammelan’—a Poetry Show, centered on the theme ‘Organ Donation’. The poetry extravaganza witnessed UG & PG students of IMS and IPS students from Vibrant Club sharing life-saving impact of donating organs.
The event began with motivational speech from Dr Neelima Mehrotra, Dean UG on significance of organ donation through personal anecdotes in the presence of Air Marshal Dr MS Butola, Principal SRMS IMS; Dr (Brig)Vandana Negi, Head, Department of Pediatrics & Neonatology, IMS; Dr Huma Khan, Professor & HOD, Department of Community Medicine. The Kavi-Sammelan saw each participant delivering a powerful message in contemporary, linguistically rejuvenating and poetically refreshing manner. They inspired everyone to donate organs, while underscoring its potential to save lives.
Towards the end, winners were announced on the basis of content, rhythm & phraseology, wherein Radhika Gupta (MBBS-Batch 2021, SRMS IMS); Sameer (BPT- Batch 2022, SRMS IPS) & Samridhi Shiv Raheja (MBBS-Batch 2021, SRMS IMS) clinched first, second & third prize respectively. Winners were adjudged by Dr Indu Pardal; Dr Huma Khan; Dr Smita Gupta, Professor & HOD, Department of General Medicine and Dr Milan Jaiswal, Professor & HOD, Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine.
