FROM MOLECULES to MEDICINE: SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES LEADS THE CONVERSATION on GENETIC ADVANCES in CHILD HEALTHCARE!

The Department of Pediatrics & Neonatology at SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly successfully hosted a two-day Pediatric & Neonatal Update titled “Decoding Childhood: Cutting Edge Genetics in Pediatrics & Neonatology – अणु से आरोग्य तक”, which brought together leading pediatric experts to explore how genetic science and molecular medicine are transforming the diagnosis, prevention & treatment of childhood diseases.
Guided by the vision of Shri Dev Murti (Founder & Chairman, SRMS Trust), the conference emphasized the critical importance of early screening and awareness for newborn health, highlighting that timely genetic evaluation and preventive care can significantly reduce infant mortality and improve treatment outcomes. The academic sessions featured eminent experts discussing emerging areas such as neonatal genomics, genetic testing for childhood diseases, molecular diagnosis in pediatrics, hereditary blood disorders, renal tubular disorders, and genetic susceptibility to infections and sepsis. The conference also explored modern approaches in pediatric intensive care, cardiovascular genetic disorders, and rare diseases such as lysosomal storage disorders including Gaucher disease, along with discussions on status epilepticus in children and MPS-2 diagnosis.
The program also highlighted the importance of introducing genetic medicine education early in medical training, empowering future doctors with the tools needed for next-generation healthcare.
Organized under the leadership of Dr (Brig) Vandana Negi (Organizing Chairperson), with Atul Kumar (Organizing Secretary) & Dr MS Butola (Principal, IMS), the conference featured expert lectures, research paper presentations, poster sessions, rare case discussions, and panel dialogues that bridged the gap between clinical practice and cutting-edge research.
