In a landmark step for emergency and trauma care in India, SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly launched and hosted the globally recognized inaugural TEAM™ – Trauma Evaluation and Management Course, certified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), strengthening trauma education and multidisciplinary emergency care in the region.
Organised by Department of Emergency Medicine & Trauma, the one-day course was led by Prof (Dr) Mayur Narayan, Rutgers University, USA, as Course Director, in the presence of Aditya Murti, Director Administration, SRMS IMS; Dr Harshit Agarwal, Emergency & Trauma Surgeon; Dr RP Singh, Medical Superintendent; Dr Lalit Singh, Professor & Head, Department of Respiratory Medicine and other instructors. Also present were Prof Sandeep Sahu (SGPGI Lucknow), Brig Kiran S (Military Hospital, Bareilly), Dr Anand Katiyar (Command Hospital Lucknow) & Dr SK Rai (SRMS IMS, Bareilly).
The course equipped undergraduate medical students and interns with essential skills for initial trauma assessment and management during the critical Golden Hour, where timely action can save lives. It combined interactive lectures, case-based discussions, skill demonstrations, audiovisual modules, and best practices aligned with ATLS® 11th edition and insights from the ACS Stop the Bleed program.
The TEAM Course emphasized bridging the gap between theory and real-time emergency decision-making, strengthening trauma care systems and preparing future doctors with structured management skills. Certificates were awarded to successful participants during the valedictory session.
