SRMS ENGINEERING & RESEARCH COLLEGE HOSTS ‘CHRISTMAS CAKE MIXING CEREMONY’: A BLEND OF TRADITION, HISTORY & FESTIVE SPIRIT

The Department of Hotel Management at SRMS College of Engineering, Technology & Research (CETR), Bareilly , recently hosted a vibrant ‘Christmas Cake Mixing Ceremony’, celebrating the tradition’s journey from 17th-century Europe to modern Indian festivities. The event highlighted the communal spirit and symbolic significance of cake mixing, marking abundance, goodwill, and preparation for the cherished Christmas plum cake.

Chief Guest, Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust, shared insights into the global history and goodness of this festive activity, which traditionally commemorates the harvest season when fruits and nuts are gathered for Christmas preparations. Students of Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BHMCT) at SRMS CETR and dignitaries enthusiastically participated in mixing a variety of ingredients, including dried fruits, nuts, spices, and fruit juices, followed by a delightful high tea.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Aditya Murti , Trust Secretary; Ambica Murti, Director Administration, SRMS FIMC, Lucknow; Er Subash Mehra, Trust Advisor Dr Anuj Kumar, Director TDP Cell; Dr Prabhakar Gupta , Principal CET; Dr MS Butola , Principal IMS; Dr Jaspreet Kaur , Principal IPS; Dr Muthu Maheshwari , Principal Nursing College; Dr Shailesh Saxena Dean Academics, CETR; and Sanjeev Srivastava, AGM, Hotel Utopian Luxe, Lucknow.

The event was skillfully coordinated by Dr Moushumi Banerjee , HOD, BHMCT, along with Assistant Professor Sapna Thakur , ensuring its success and creating a memorable celebration of tradition and togetherness.
