Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering, Technology & Research (SRMS CETR), Bareilly hosted an interactive seminar on ‘SRMS Roadmap from Healthcare to Hospitality’, focusing on institution’s newly introduced program in Bachelor of Hotel Management &Catering Technology (BHMCT) & highlight its potential in rapidly growing hospitality sector. The seminar was conducted by Department of Hotel Management with Professor Dr Ankush Rathor, HOD & Dr Moushumi Banerjee, Assistant Professor, as keynote speakers.
During the knowledge-driven session, Dr Moushumi Banerjee gave a brief overview on BHMCT program & discussed the Nature City Program 2024 — a collaborative initiative with AICTE designed to offer students with diverse opportunities & enhance their industry-relevant skills. The session went further with an introduction by Dr Ankush Rathoron ‘Earn while you learn’ scheme, which is a distinctive feature of BHMCT that enable students to gain practical experience alongside their studies. Both speakers emphasized the benefits of Indian tourism, particularly noting its resurgence post – COVID-19 & highlighted the Sanskrit phrase ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ as a cornerstone of Indian hospitality.
The seminar covered various aspects of hospitality industry including services provided by hoteliers, standards expected in 5-star hotels &lucrative career options for BHMCT graduates. It also touched upon topics like salary comparisons within the industry, top-paying countries for hospitality professionals & rising prominence of female managers in India’s hospitality sector.
Towards the end, Dr LS Maurya, Principal CETR concluded the seminar, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to preparing students for successful careers in hospitality industry.
