SRMS ENGINEERING & RESEARCH COLLEGE MARKS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WITH OATH-TAKING CEREMONY FOR A DOWRY & DRUG-FREE INDIA!

On account of International Women’s Day, SRMS College of Engineering, Technology & Research (CETR), Bareilly conducted a significant Oath-taking Ceremony for Dowry & Drug-Free India, which brought students and faculty members together in a unified pledge against these social challenges. During the event, a book reading session also took place, in alignment with the AKTU circular, to inculcate reading habit and gather awareness towards these social challenges.

The ceremony was graced by Dr Shailesh Saxena, Dean Academies and Dr KK Agarwal, DSW who presided over the proceedings and administered the oath to all participants. In his inspiring address, Dr Shailesh Saxena emphasized the detrimental effects of dowry system on society, and the importance of standing firmly against such practices, particularly highlighting how dowry adversely affects women’s dignity and rights. Adding to this, Dr KK Agarwal highlighted the growing concern of drug abuse among youth and urged students to maintain a healthy & substance-free lifestyle.

During the ceremony, participants collectively took solemn oath, pledging to neither give nor take dowry in marriages and to completely abstain from the consumption/ distribution of drugs and narcotic substances throughout their lives. They further presented their views and committed to work towards combating these social evils in their spheres of influence, thereby promoting women’s empowerment and fostering a healthier, progressive society.
