A SMALL SHOT TODAY, A SAFER TOMORROW: SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES STEP UP FOR YOUNG GIRLS’ HEALTH

Because prevention isn’t just better than cure; it’s powerful…

Marking World Health Day 2026 and aligning with the WHO theme “Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures,” SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly took a meaningful step by launching a free HPV vaccination drive for girls aged 9–14 years, aimed at protecting them early against HPV-related diseases and cervical cancer.

This initiative, part of a nationwide campaign, saw active involvement from the Departments of Community Medicine, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The session was inaugurated by Dr Prashant Ranjan (DIO, Bareilly), with insightful guidance from Prof Dr Vandana Negi (HOD, Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology), Prof Dr (Col) Manoj Kumar Tangri (Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology), and Dr Abhinav Pandey (Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine), each highlighting the importance of awareness, early protection, and preventive healthcare.

In a powerful start, five girls (aged 14-15 years) from Bhojipura block voluntarily received their HPV vaccine dose free of cost, along with vaccination certificates. However, more than a drive, it was a step toward healthier futures, informed choices, and stronger communities.
