IT DOESN’T WARN YOU BEFORE IT STRIKES: SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES’ MEDICOS SOUND ALARM on the SILENT KILLER CALLED ‘HYPERTENSION’

High blood pressure doesn’t always hurt, show symptoms, or make noise, but it silently affects millions every day. On the occasion of World Hypertension Day 2026 (May 17), SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly joined the global movement to spread awareness around this year’s theme: “Controlling Hypertension Together: Check your blood pressure regularly, defeat the silent killer.”
Highlighting the growing importance of early detection and lifestyle awareness, renowned experts from SRMS IMS shared valuable insights on hypertension, heart health, and preventive care.
Dr Smita Gupta (Professor & HOD, DNB, Department of General Medicine, SRMS IMS) emphasized that hypertension often remains unnoticed until it leads to severe complications like stroke, kidney disease, or heart problems. She encouraged people to adopt healthier lifestyles, regular monitoring, stress management, and timely medical consultation.
Adding to this, Dr Deepesh Kumar Agarwal (Professor, DM Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, SRMS IMS) stressed the importance of regular blood pressure checks, especially among younger individuals, where sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy eating habits, and rising stress levels are becoming major risk factors.
Further spreading awareness, Dr Amit Varshney (Associate Professor, MD, DNB, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, SRMS IMS) highlighted how hypertension can be effectively controlled through timely diagnosis, medication adherence, physical activity, reduced salt intake, and preventive cardiac care.
Through this awareness initiative, SRMS IMS continues its commitment towards educating communities about preventive healthcare and encouraging people to take charge of their heart-health!
