A LEAP FORWARD IN HISTOPATHOLOGY: ADVANCED STATE-OF-THE-ART EQUIPMENTS REVOLUTIONIZES PATHOLOGY DEPARTMENT AT SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES

In a move set to elevate medical diagnostics, aligned with international standards of healthcare excellence, Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly recently upgraded its Pathology Lab with installation & inauguration of state-of-the-art equipment’s—Leica TP1020 Tissue Processor—a cutting-edge Carousel System for Rapid, Safe Tissue Procession; and In-House designed Grossing Station that enhances tissue handling with superior safety features along with Lab Connectivity Integration.
However, these equipment’s, duly inaugurated by Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust in the presence of Aditya Murti, Director Administration at SRMSIMS & various HODs, faculties & students, marks a new chapter in precision diagnostics with improved patient outcomes, enhancing efficiency & accuracy of histological sample processing—a vital component in disease diagnosis.
Sharing more details, Dr Tanu Agarwal, Professor & Head, Department of Pathology at SRMSIMS shared, “Leica TP1020 Tissue Processor is a latest, advanced & fully- automated carousel type system with a vacuum function & a fume control system that’s used to embed fixed & dehydrated tissue overnight in paraffin wax. With the installation of this processor, pathology results can now be delivered with faster turnaround times, reducing patient anxiety & facilitating quicker medical interventions.”
Speaking further on In-House designed Grossing Station equipment, Dr Tanu puts, “Grossing stations play a key role in histopathology labs for providing a dedicated workspace & controlled environment for grossing of tissue specimens. However, this has been designed inhouse with improved safety features, integrated storage area along with adherence to best practices in tissue handling with features such as improved exhaust grill & connectivity interface for integration with lab information system.”
