In the pursuit of WORLD CANCER DAYon February 4, RR Cancer Institute & Research Centre at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly is coming up with a felicitation gathering of ‘Cancer Survivors’ at SRMS Alakhnanda Staff Club on February 3, 2024.

The significant event shall witness some of the Cancer Survivors, being treated at SRMS IMS, who emerged as winners after conquering this formidable foe. However, it’s not just an event; it’s a celebration of hope, unity & triumph of human spirit over adversity, where cancer survivors will be greeted & felicitated for their strength & perseverance on achieving this great milestone.

One such #CancerSurvivor, MAHESH CHANDRA from Badaun who was diagnosed with Cancer Oropharynx in 2014 says, “I was suffering from throat pain & difficulty in eating. After consulting several doctors in Badaun, I was referred to SRMS Hospital, Bareilly, wherein I was diagnosed with Oropharyngeal Cancer after biopsy by Professor Dr Rohit Sharma, HOD, ENT Department at SRMS IMS. It was a heartbreaking news, but at the same time, I decided to fight back this disease. I met Professor Dr Piyush Kumar Agarwal, HOD, Department of Radiation Oncology at SRMS IMS, who explicitly explained me the treatment plan. With strength & support fueled by him, I conquered the shadows of cancer that once clouded my throat, for which, I underwent 8 chemotherapies & several radiotherapies. From biopsy to enduring chemotherapy, every step paved the way to a decade of triumph & health. Today, after 10 years, I stand as a testament to resilience, gratitude & the transformative power of compassionate care.”

Echoing similar thoughts, Mahesh’s daughter, Kirti Sahu, shares, “The revelation of dad’s serious illness shattered us completely. We were indeed going through the worst phase of our lives, but we didn’t lose hope. Dr Piyush Agarwal provided excellent treatment & now my dad is completely fine. The doctors assured us throughout the treatment process & motivated us to fight for his survival.”
