CADAVERIC ARTHROPLASTY WORKSHOP AT SRMS IMS GIVES ORTHOPEDICS UNPARALLELED HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE
The Department of Orthopedics at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly recently organized a remarkable two-day ‘SRMS Cadaveric Arthroplasty Course 2023’ cum Workshop at SRMS IMS, under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Orthopedic Association (UPOA) based on Indian Orthopedic Association’s (IOA) President theme ‘Strong Bones, Stronger Nation’.
This two-day academic feast, inaugurated by Chief Guest, Dr Raghvendra Sharma, Orthopedic Surgeon & MLA of Bithri Chainpur, brought together renowned orthopedic experts & faculties from Bareilly & outside. The workshop had scientific lectures & Cadaveric hands-on session on primary hip arthroplasty, which enhanced participants’ skills through practical demonstrations on cadaveric arthroplasty techniques, amidst comprehensive learning environment. Live demonstration on cadaveric revision hip arthroplasty, cadaveric hands-on primary knee arthroplasty & first-time live demonstration on cadaveric revision knee arthroplasty were the added highlights. Total Knee Replacement (TKR) by first-ever Live Robotic surgery was the groundbreaking milestone of workshop that fetched 95 registrations from medical fraternity.
Dr Sanjay Gupta, Professor & Head, Department of Orthopedics, SRMS IMS as well as the Organizing Secretary of workshop emphasized on first-ever Robotic total knee replacement surgery of a patient suffering with mobility issues for the past 5-6 years. He said, “This robot has specifically been designed for TKR, wherein the robotic TKR performs bone resections according to previous preoperative plan. Bone cuts are performed with great accuracy & patient faces less pain with faster recovery. This quantum leap has positioned SRMS Hospital at the forefront of medical advancements.”
