CELEBRATING WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK (AUG 1-7) AT SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES: NURTURING FUTURE, ONE BABY AT A TIME

WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK, observed annually from AUGUST 1-7, is a global campaign to raise awareness & promote benefits of breastfeeding. This year, SHRI RAM MURTI SMARAK INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (SRMS IMS), Bareilly is hosting a week-long series of activities dedicated to educating & supporting new mothers on the importance of breastfeeding on this year’s theme, ‘Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for all’.

Throughout the week, various informative sessions, workshops, and support groups will be held to provide comprehensive guidance on breastfeeding techniques and its invaluable benefits.
Leading these initiatives, DR (Brig.) VANDANA NEGI, Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics at SRMS IMS emphasizes the critical role of breastfeeding immediately after birth & continuing for at least first six months of a child’s life. She shares, “Breastfeeding is not just about nourishing the baby; it’s about nurturing a bond that ensures a child’s health, happiness & satisfaction. The first milk, or colostrum, is packed with essential nutrients & antibodies that protect the newborn from infections & diseases, setting a strong foundation for a healthy life.”

She further explains how breastfeeding supports baby’s immune system, aids in proper digestion & promotes optimal growth and development.
So, join us in celebrating World Breastfeeding Week and take part in the activities at SRMS IMS to learn more about remarkable benefits of breastfeeding, and how it can give your child the healthiest start in life!
