The department of Critical Care Medicine at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences is a 42 bedded Critical Care Unit with Laminar flow on all Beds and state of art equipments to handle the critically ill patient.,6 bedded emergency ICU with fully equipped ventilator support machines as well as highly trained staff, 6 bedded High Dependency Unit (HDU) IN BOTH MEDICINE AND SURGERY DEPARTMENT, nurse to patient ratio of 1:1, along with NICU and PICU with 10 beds each for patients on ventilators and those requiring invasive monitoring. For critically ill cardiac patients, ICCu of 11 beds is also being run by the institute.  Its main two objectives are excellence in Critical CARE and training of future specialists in Critical Care Medicine.A didactic training program based on the core curriculum for trainees in critical care medicine course complements extensive clinical experience.To achieve its goals, the department is rich with the following infrastructural facilities:

  • 24 hours x 7days Consultant Critical Care Supervision.
  • Advanced Monitoring system for Cardiac Hemodynamic including PiCCO and EV 1000 FlowTrac.
  • Protocols of Critical care formulated and implemented as per ISCCM & ESICM guidelines.
  • Bedside Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) analysis
  • Bedside facilities for Imaging i.e X Ray, Ultrasonography, Echocardiography, Peripheral Doppler
  • Endoscopy and Video- Bronchoscopy at bedside.
  • Microprocessor controlled ventilations to provide ventilator support to both adults and children.
  • Haemodynamic monitoring
  • Hemodialysis (including SLED and CRRT)
  • Renal Transplant
  • PCT(Percutaneous Tracheostomy)
  • Vein finder

The department of Critical Care Medicine conducts training for creating world class future critical care specialists by running Post MBBS and POST MD IDCCM Certificate Course.

At SRMS we also believe in the vital role of trained nursing staff providing quality care to the critically ill patients and for which, the department of critical care medicine took the responsibility to train nurses by running an IDCCN certificate course in Critical Care Medicine.

The department also conducts multiple Workshops, Seminars, conferences, CMEs and Guest Lectures for Continuous knowledge upgradation and skill development. The department is accredited by Bureau VERITAS as a platinum grade. We have organized the UP-UK ISCCM State Chapter and the 2nd W4C Conference on the theme “Sepsis”  which was chaired by esteemed national and international faculties on critical care in Sept 2022. The department continues to strive for better care of critically ill patients by focusing on latest guidelines as well as proper care post extubation in the ward.
