LIFE TWICE GIVEN: HOW SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES TURNED A MOTHER’S LOVE INTO A DAUGHTER’S SECOND CHANCE

Some gifts can’t be wrapped; they’re felt in every heartbeat. At SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly, that gift came in the form of a mother’s kidney, a lifeline that pulled her daughter back from the edge.
On World Organ Donation Day (August 13), as part of the ongoing campaign ‘Angdaan – Jeevan Sanjeevani Abhiyaan’, SRMS IMS celebrates stories where medicine meets miracles, like that of 35-year-old Pooja Gangwar from Bareilly. A year and a half ago, a sudden fever spiraled into kidney failure, shattering the normal rhythm of her life. As uncertainty loomed, her mother Reshma Devi (58) stepped forward without hesitation, offering a part of herself, quite literally, to save her child.
Under the expert hands of Dr (Prof) Sanjay Kumar, Consultant Nephrologist & Kidney Transplant Physician, the transplant was a success. Today, Pooja and Reshma walk side by side, healthy, smiling, and treasuring every shared moment, living proof that some bonds defy biology.
At SRMS IMS, organ donation isn’t just a procedure, it’s a promise, a second birth, and the courage to say yes when life asks for everything.
Be inspired. Be a donor. Be someone’s miracle.
