SHRI RAM MURTI SMARAK HOSPITAL HOSTS MEGA HEALTH CAMP ON WORLD HYPERTENSION DAY, SCREENS OVER 250 PATIENTS FOR HYPERTENSION & DIABETES!

On World Hypertension Day (WHD), Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS) & SRMS Hospital organized a comprehensive health camp focusing on hypertension & diabetes screening, based on this year’s theme ‘Know Your Numbers’. This significant event, orchestrated by Department of General Medicine, drew in more than 250 patients from the surrounding community.
The camp offered an array of free screenings & medical investigations, including Blood Pressure Monitoring—essential for detecting hypertension, wherein all participants had their blood pressure measured; Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH)—to assess thyroid function, influencing both hypertension & diabetes; Lipid Profile—screening for cholesterol & triglycerides to evaluate cardiovascular risk; Uric Acid Levels—to check for conditions like gout, which can be associated with hypertension; Hemoglobin (Hb) & HbA1C—to monitor blood sugar levels & diagnose diabetes; Bone Mineral Density (BMD)—important for detecting osteoporosis, particularly in diabetic patients; Peripheral Neuropathy Testing—to identify nerve damage common in diabetic patients etc.
The event successfully screened over 250 patients, identified diagnosis of T2DM & hypertensive patients & providing them with crucial health information & interventions. Many participants were identified with elevated BP and glucose levels, leading to immediate counseling & follow-up plans. Educational materials on diet, exercise, non-communicable & lifestyle diseases & medication adherence were distributed to all attendees.
However, WHD mega camp at SRMS Hospital was a resounding success, reflecting the commitment of SRMS IMS to community health &preventive medicine. The collaborative efforts by Department of General Medicine & the hospital staff ensured comprehensive care & valuable health insights. This initiative not only enhanced health awareness, but also paved way for better management of hypertension & diabetes within the community.
