The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology & Department of Radiation Oncology at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly, recently organized an insightful CME on ‘PRESERVING FERTILITY: AWARENESS TO ACTION’ in association with Fertility Preservation Society, India (FPSI). Most importantly, it’s for the first time that such CME on the theme of ‘Onco-Fertility’ was conducted in Uttar Pradesh.
The event began with welcome address of Dr Madhuri Patil, President, FPSI who also explained fertility preservation techniques in cancer patients, whereas Dr M Gouri Devi Khandelwal, Director, Department of Reproductive Medicine, Ridge IVF Pvt. Ltd, Delhi, provided an overview on fertility preservation. Meanwhile, Organizing Chairperson Professor Dr Piyush Kumar Agarwal, HOD & Director, RR Cancer Institute at SRMS IMS, Bareilly, discussed the integration of fertility preservation in oncological services.
Following the informative sessions, Panel Discussion on ‘Creating Awareness of Fertility Preservation among Health Care Providers’ enriched the academic discourse. Impactful talks on ‘Fertility Preservation Surgeries in Gynecological Malignancies & ‘Pregnancy after Cancer Treatment’ were delivered by Co-Organizing Chairperson Professor Dr (Col) Manoj Kumar Tangri, Gynae-Oncologist at SRMS IMS & Dr Swati Verma, Sr IVF Consultant, Jindal IVF Centre, Chandigarh. The event concluded with another Panel Discussion on ‘FP in Breast Cancer, Borderline Ovarian Tumors, Endometrial Malignancies & Lymphoma’, followed by Q&A session.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Chief Patron Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust; Patrons Aditya Murti, Trust Secretary & Air Marshal Dr MS Butola, Principal SRMS IMS in the presence of Organizing Chairperson Professor Dr Shashi Bala Arya, Head, Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department, SRMS IMS; Organizing Secretary Dr Ruchica Goel, IVF Specialist, SRMS IMS; Dr Nalini Kaul (Mahajan), Founder President, FPSI among several others.
