SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES’ FREE CANCER SCREENING & AWARENESS WEEK REACHES DAY-3; SPOTLIGHT ON ORAL CAVITY CANCER & DANGERS OF TOBACCO!

In a run-up to its 23RD FOUNDATION DAY (on July 4), Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences’ (SRMS IMS) FREE CANCER SCREENING & AWARENESS WEEK (from July 1-6) has reached its DAY-3, focusing on ORAL CAVITY CANCER with awareness talks highlighting the severe side effects of tobacco.

The Day 3 kicks-off with inaugural by Air Marshal Dr MS Butola, Principal SRMS IMS with an enlightening talk on hazards of tobacco use, wherein he encouraged everyone to quit this habit for better health. His talk was followed by insightful address of Dr (Col) RP Singh, Medical Superintendent, who voiced his opinion on critical importance of ongoing free cancer screening facility. Later, Dr Rashika Sachan, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology spoke on early symptoms, signs & treatment of oral cancer, supported by a PPT presentation. The event went further with a skit titled ‘Rangeela Bidi’ performed by MBBS students of Batch 2022, who highlighted the dangers of tobacco use in an engaging manner.

The day’s event concluded with an informative Panel Discussion moderated by Professor Dr Piyush Kumar, Director, RR Cancer Institute with a team of panelists including Dr Rohit Sharma, Dean PG; Professor Dr Sachin Pathak, Head, Department of Dental Sciences; Dr Pavan Kumar, Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology; Dr Shubhanshu Gupta, Assistant Professor, General Surgery Department, who educated the community about early detection & prevention, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to public health and well-being.
