SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES MARKS ‘WORLD DIABETES DAY’ WITH WALKATHON, FREE DIABETES CAMP & NUKKAD NATAK TO PROMOTE WELLNESS

On World Diabetes Day, SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly in collaboration with Department of General Medicine & Department of Community Medicine conducted ‘WALKATHON’—an Awareness Walk for Diabetes & overall well-being starting from medical college campus & culminating further at hospital premises. The inauguration of Free Diabetes camp alongside a Nukkad Natak was an added highlight.
The day began with flagging-off ‘Walkathon’ by Aditya Murti, Director Administration & Dr MS Butola, Principal IMS in the presence of Dr Bindu Garg, Dean UG; Dr Smita Gupta, Professor & Head, Department of General Medicine; Dr Huma Khan, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine & other dignitaries. The medical students across various batches were spotted carrying awareness posters promoting messages like ‘take less sugar’, ‘let’s walk for a healthier tomorrow’, ‘consume zero calorie foods’ etc. This was followed by a powerful Nukkad-Natak by MBBS Batch 2023 on prevention & management of diabetes. Soon after, the diabetes camp was inaugurated by Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust, in the presence of Dr RP Singh, MS; Dr CM Chaturvedi, Deputy MS & aforementioned dignitaries. In his address, Shri Dev Murti emphasised how diabetes can be managed with proper discipline, healthy lifestyle along with dietary changes.
However, the camp saw over 400 people screened Free for various investigations including HbA1C, TSH, BMD, Uric Acid, Blood Sugar, BP, Neuropathy Test, Lipid Profile & Microalbuminuria. During the day, an awareness session stressing upon significance of diet & exercise was also delivered by Dr Deepak Das, Associate Professor, Department of General Medicine.
