The Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) at Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology (SRMS CET), Bareilly under the aegis of Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), NITTTR, Chandigarh recently organized a 5-day long Faculty Short Term Course (STC) program on ‘Wireless Networks’. The course recognized by AICTE under Ministry of Education, GOI, was delivered through Information & Communication Technology (ICT)mode, wherein around 40 faculty members from SRMS CET & CETR campus belonging to departments of CSE, ECE & EN enthusiastically participated.

The STC proved beneficial for interdisciplinary research, cover in gvarious topics such as Overview of Wireless Networks & Challenges; Evolution of Mobile Networks from 2G to 5G; Research Areas in Wireless Networks; Software Defined Networks; New Radio Technologies; Wireless Adhoc Networks: Research Challenges, Energy Efficient Routing Protocols for Wireless Sensor Network; Zigbee: The Wireless PAN Standard; Intelligent Transportation Systems; Simulation Tools: SUMO/NS-3; Bluetooth—The State of Art; Troubleshooting Tactics: Unmasking Network Issues with Wireshark Insights; and Navigating the Landscape of DDoS Defense: Motivations, Challenges & Research Directions.

Various speakers who shared their in-depth knowledge were Course Coordinator Dr C Rama Krishna, Professor, CSE Department, NITTTR Chandigarh; Er SK Chopra, SrGM (O&M), BBNL Punjab; Dr Sujata Pal, Assistant Professor, CSE Department, IIT Ropar; Sandeep Singhai, Sr Principal Scientist, CSIR-AMPRI, Bhopal; Dr Garima Saini, Assistant Professor, ECE Department, NITTTR Chandigarh; Dr Dilip Kumar, Professor, ECE Department, SLIET Longowal; Dr Nilesh Patil, CSE Department, Government Polytechnic, Maharashtra; Vipin Gupta, Director, U-Net Solutions Moga, Punjab & Dr Rishu Chhabra, Professor, Chitkara University, Punjab. The event concluded with a valedictory session by all ICT centres, along with feedback from participants.
