UP-UK APPICON 2018 Conference Conducted by SRMS IMS

8th Annual conference of UP-UK Chapter of APPI “UP-UK APPICON 2018” was held at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly from 13th to 15th April, 2018. The theme of the conference was “Molecular targets in Health & Disease”.

The conference commenced with a preconference CME on “Molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases” on 13th April, 2018. The key speakers were Dr. Latika Mohan, Dr. B.S.S. Rao, Dr. H.N. Mallick, Dr. S.B. Deshpande and Dr. Sunita Mittal. The sessions were very informative for all.

A Hands on workshop on “Pharmacovigilance” was also organized as a preconference event on 13th April 2018. The eminent faculty Dr. Mohammad Nasiruddin, Dr. Irfan Ahmad Khan, Mr. Gurfan Ali & Mr. Sumit Kumar participated in the workshop as experts and helped the participants understand the ADR reporting and filling of ADR form.

The conference started on 14th April with a symposium on the theme of the conference. The plenary speaker Dr. Rakesh K Tyagi, Professor, Molecular Medicine from JNU, New Delhi delivered his talk on Gene –bookmarking: a novel role of nuclear receptors in transcriptional memory.

Also Dr. BSS Rao and Dr. W. Ramdas Singh participated in the symposium and shared their research work. The second symposium was “Recent Perspectives in Diabetes mellitus”. The key speakers were Dr. Ashutosh Mishra, Dr. Nirmal Yadav, Dr. Sunita Tiwari and Dr. Neena Srivastava. A bio-modelling competition was organized for undergraduate MBBS Students in which 8 teams displayed their models. The models were very well executed by the students and their efforts and knowledge waswell appreciated by the distinguished jury members.

A session of postgraduate oral & eposter presentation and faculty oral presentation was also held.

The day two of the conference was held at Ramnagar. The symposium “Mixed bag” comprised of 7 speakers: Dr. Vivek Sharma, Dr. Inderpal Kaur, Dr. Prithpal S Matreja, Dr. R.K. Dixit, Dr. Smita Gupta, Dr. Nihareeka Arora and Dr. Ashwani K Gupta who presented their deliberations on some newer drugs and drug targets. The symposium “Nutritional issues in Cancer patients” included three speakers: Dr. Bindu Garg, Dr. Sujata Singh and Dr. Harsha Vardhan. There was another session of oral and eposter presentation for postgraduates and faculty free paper presentation.

On the whole, conference witnessed a good participation with almost 120 faculty and postgraduates and 40 undergraduate students registered as delegates. There were 39 oral presentations by postgraduates, 20 eposter presentations and 11 faculty free paper presentations.

Debate Competition on Child Labor

On 24.04.2018 Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering And Technology (Pharmacy) successfully completed the event of Debate Competition on “Child Labor” under the National Service Scheme at college campus.

The event was based on Child Labor which gave the students a platform to deliver their ideas. The event took place under the guidance and auspicious presence of Dr. Lalit Singh, Director (Pharmacy) .Speaking on the occasion he laid stressed on the acute need to protect the child from this menace of Child Labour. He stressed on generating more awareness to curb the problem of child labour and protecting the rights and interests of minors.

Mr. Vijay Sharma NSS Incharge further said that it is a need of hour to strictly deal with it and stringent action under the Law should be taken against those found guilty of employing minors as labors. He added that need was felt to spread the awareness among the general public.

The Judgement panel included Ms. Priyanka Bhatt, Mr. Ritesh Kumar Tiwari and Mr. Semimul Akhtar. Total 20 students participated out of which Hafsa Khan B.Ph. IInd Semester Bagged the First Prize, Poojya Khanna B.Ph. IVth Semester got the Second Prize and Khushboo Yadav B.Ph. VIth Semester secured the Third Prize respectively.

Adolescent Health – 2018: UP STATE REGIONAL CME

A conference on Adolescent Health-2018 was organized by the Department of Pediatrics, SRMS IMS in collaboration with UP state IAP and IAP Bareilly on 21st April 2018. The theme of the CME was “Know Your Adolescent”. It was an honor and matter of pride for the Department of Pediatrics to have conducted the first CME on Adolescent Health in UP under the guidance of Dr PL Prasad.

Conference was organized under the headship of our guiding force Shri Dev Murti (Chairman Trust) and Shri Aditya Murti (Director Administration). Dr PL Prasad was Organizing Chairperson and Dr Anita Kumari was Organizing Secretary. More than 150 adolescents, 30 teachers and pediatricians from all over the city participated in the conference. Inaugural function was graced by Shri Parush Arora, Shri Nirbhay Beniwal, President and Secterary, Independent School Association, respectively. Smt Pratibha Mehrotra, Owner of The Guru School was also present.

Dr Preeti Galagali, Convener of Technical Advisory Group Adolescent Health, Asia Pacific Pediatric Association 2016-2018 and National Convener of IAP Mission Kishore Uday Programme 2018-19 shared various experiences of adolescents and their behavioral changes. Dr Piyali Bhattacharya, Life member of Adolescent Health Academy and Adolescent Health Ambassador of Mission Kishore Uday, spoke on impact of media on adolescent.

The conference began by the opinions and problems of teenagers in the interactive session with Dr Anita Kumari. The deliberations were highly appreciated by students, parents and teachers. This was followed by vibrant color display of posters by the school children. The first prize was won by Manasthali International School and runner-up by Bedi International School. Dr Atul Agarwal, immediate past President of IAP Bareilly, kept the audience captured with how to deal with peer pressure and anger management. The day concluded with an interactive session with parents, teachers and pediatricians with Dr PL Prasad. Parents, teachers and pediatricians actively participated in voicing the problems and their solutions faced by them with adolescents and were highly appreciated. Eminent pediatricians like Dr Sanjata Roy Choudhary, Dr Ravi Khanna were the chairperson of various talks.

There was grand release of two booklets, “The Teen Years” and “The Teenagers”, authored by Dr Anita Kumari and Dr PL Prasad. “The Teen Years” was released by Dr Atul Agarwal, which caters to the parents, teachers and society, while “The Teenagers” was released by Shri Parush Arora which is a colorful illustrative book for adolescents.

All together the conference was a great success with help of the management and team work of the organizing committee members (Dr Preeti Lata Rai, Dr Ruchika Bhatnagar, Dr Sandhya Chauhan, Dr Surabhi Chandra, Dr Atul Agarwal), supporting staff and marketing team leading to an excellent day and warm hospitality which was appreciated by one and all.

Pool Campus Placement Drive – ICICI Bank

Shri Ram Murti Smarak Engineering Institutions, Bareilly – Lucknow organized a pool campus recruitment drive of a renowned bank – ICICI on April 18, 2018 for the students of B.tech and MBA.

As an initial process, representatives from ICICI started the session with a pre-placement talk followed by an online test. 77 students appeared for the online test and 42 were shortlisted from it for the next round of group discussion. Further 13 students cracked the group discussion round and appeared for the personal interview. Finally, 8 students were selected by the company.

The colleges who participated in the drive are SRMS CET- Bareilly/Lucknow, SRMS CETR- Bareilly, Mahatma Joytiba Phule Rohilkhand University- Bareilly and Bareilly College- Bareilly.

Tree Plantation Programme at SRMS CET (Pharmacy)

On 19.04.2018 Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering And Technology (Pharmacy) successfully completed the event of Tree Plantation under the National Service Scheme at college campus.

Trees are the foremost source for producing the oxygen in environment, they helps to reduce the level of CO2. As we all know that the whole world is facing the problem of global warming and to recover from such problem planting the trees is becoming one of the most important aspects today.

Dr. Lalit Singh, Director (Pharmacy) advised the volunteers to think differently for the Society to make positive changes and to make improvement. Mr. Vijay Sharma NSS Incharge oriented the NSS volunteers by notifying the importance of NSS for them as well as society. After the inspirational words all moved towards the herbal garden where tree plantation took place.

All were happy after the tree plantation event was finished, because it really felt great to do positive for the nature. All the students were very enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoyed the planting process. Tree planting event connected the students to the benefits of trees and fostered environmental sensitivity in them. It also brought them closer to the environment.

It is hoped that in the coming years, the children not just plant more and more trees but also take care of them, watch them grow and be able bask in their glorious beauty.

Workshop on Robotics Sponsored by Institution of Engineers (India) Bareilly Local Centre

In order to provide the students with an exposure of coding environment and the practical application of the knowledge that they have gained throughout their academic session, the department of electrical engineering has taken an initiative by conducting a workshop on Robotics Sponsored by Institution of Engineers (India) Bareilly Local Centre. It began with the blessings of Maa Saraswati, our traditional lamp lighting ceremony. The entire workshop was divided into 2 sessions. The first session a brief introduction to line follower robot and edge follower robot was provided by the resource persons followed by Designing Fabrication and assembling was arranged for the students to test their skills.

The first session began with the introduction to robotics, making the students familiar with the world of robotics. After that, an extended idea about the LFR (Line Follower Robot) was provided to the students by the resource persons.

In the same sequence student also learned about the Fabrication, assembling of different components followed by coding for both LFR & EFR robot.

In the second session starts with coding and testing of both robots (LFR & EFR) and a competition was arranged for the students whose deciding parameters were minimum time and minimum man handling taken by robot to complete the track. After that, the prize distribution ceremony arranged for the distribution of prizes and merit certificates for winner team member by Dean Academics Dr.Prabhakar Gupta followed by Thanks.

Faculty of Management Studies at SRMS CET, Bareilly organized Paradigm 2K18 on 12th of April in style. The annual management fest of the college has become one of the most talked about events in the calendar year for students. This year was no different as over 300 students from 17 colleges in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand participated in the fest. With them they brought waves of enthusiasm and supporters from their respective colleges, who basked in the high energy atmosphere that marked the day.

‘Vanquish – Set your heart on victory’ was the theme of this year’s event and it reflected the spirit of all the participants, who put their best step forward to bag the honors. The organizers had done an impeccable job to make all students feel welcome. Their effort showed in the stunning preparations for the inauguration ceremony held in the presence of Shri Dev Murti, Chairman, SRMS Trust, Dr. Anant Kumar Srivastava, HOD – MBA, Smt. Richa Murti, Mr. Subhash Mehra, Trust Administrator, Dr. Prabhakar Gupta, Dean Academics, Dr. Lalit Singh, Director – Pharmacy, and Dr. Anuj Saxena, Head – Training and Placement.

They started the proceedings with the traditional lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Mr. Ashutosh Sahu, President of the Management Club then addressed the gathering and welcomed them for the event. Pratiksha Singh and Koushal Sharma, first year students of the MBA program set the stage of fire with a high energy Ganesh Vandana dance performance. Dr. Srivastava then took to the stage and welcomed all dignitaries. He highlighted the importance of the fest to develop leadership skills and instill confidence amongst participants.

Shri Dev Murti then inspired the gathering with his speech where he talked about the significance of an event like this in today’s industrialized and globalized era. Paradigm 2K18 was thus declared open on a high note and participants’ enthusiasm took things to a higher level as events commenced. Corporate Rangoli, Best Manager, Train Your Brain, Treasure Hunt, Mad Ads, Symbiosis and Business Plan were the different events that students participated in with huge enthusiasm and a strong dose of competitive spirit.

The highly popular events tested their management skills, presence of mind, team work and leadership qualities. Corporate Rangoli on the other hand, added more color to the goings on. Egged on by the home support, participants from SRMS Institutions made their mark in different events. Mani Gupta, Damini Saxena and Deepanshi Verma of SRMS CETR, Bareilly won the top prize in Business Plan event. They beat off two teams from SRMS CET, Bareilly, who took second and third positions making it a clean sweep in the event for SRMS Institutions.

Yashasvi, Jyoti and Shailesh of SRMS IBS won the Corporate Rangoli event, and Muskan, Praveen, Shivnandan and Rishabh of SRMS CET, Bareilly were the first runners up in the Symbiosis event. While the competitive spirit stayed high throughout the events, it was impressive to see the display of camaraderie amongst participants from all colleges. And that spirit symbolized the true essence of Paradigm 2K18. That’s why as the day draw to a close and the victors got their much deserved medals during the prize distribution ceremony, they were cheered on by all participants, who went back home as winners.

Comic Drama at SRMS CET, Bareilly

“Excitement fills the air, music flows in the wrap city. Grease, paints on young faces in costume glare, soon to purchase drama a comedy. So, let’s open our box of surprises and as the curtain rises. The magic begins and the truth is told and much soon the drama unfolds. Young & old, eager and bold, all await this afternoon divine…… “

With such a zeal, a Comic Drama was performed by the well known artists on the blissful 12th day of April,2018 in the Centennial Auditorium of SRMSCET, Bareilly. The event took place on the behalf of eminent guests, Chairman SRMS; Trust Administrator Er. Subhash Mehra, Dean Academics Dr. Prabhakar Gupta and other prominent guests. Drama is a form of expression, whether you’re portraying a character or any given emotion. With this very motive, “GHALIB IN NEW DELHI” scripted and directed by Dr. Sayeed Alam performed with his talented team. It is India’s longest running comedy; playing since 1997 with more than 410 shows to its credit: No guesses, it is Pierrot’s Troupe’s Ghalib In New Delhi hugely popular, highly acclaimed and widely travelled. The play is an extremely funny account of the 19th century renowned poet Mirza Ghalib’s re-birth in the 21st century India his trials, tribulations and travails — from his birth at the Bus Adda of Delhi to staying in a Servant Quarter with a university student from Patna to dealing with the Punjaban landlady to becoming a Page 3 celebrity.The play features some of the prominent actors of the country; including Himanshu Srivastava, Anju Chhabra, Yashraj Malik, M Sayeed Alam etc, with Dr. Alam playing the role of Mirza Ghalib, he is reputed for his penchant for humorous, historical and historic plays.

“Once you do a piece on the stage, you become that poem or you become that piece. That’s really who you are. Abiding by these, the comic drama proved to be complete enthusiastic and refreshing for the students.

SRMS Campus Placement Drive – Bhilwara Infotechnology Limited

Shri Ram Murti Smarak Engineering Institutions, Bareilly – Lucknow added another feather in its cap by organizing a campus recruitment drive of renowned organization –Bhilwara Infotechnology Limited.

Bhilwara Infotechnology Limited(BIL) is a dedicated technology consulting and implementation company and is a part of the LNJ Bhilwara Group, one of the largest employers in India. Our corporate goal is to provide the best products and services to our customers and build strong and long-term relationship with them.

As an initial process, representatives from Bhilwara Infotechnology Ltd delivered a pre-placement talk followed by group discussion. 86 students appeared in group discussion. 41 students qualified the test and appeared for personal interview.

Finally, 34 students cracked the personal interview and were selected by the company. The drive was successfully conducted and the students gave their full efforts.
