The two-day 40th Annual Conference of Association of Physicians of India (API UP Chapter) ‘UPAPICON-2023 (October 28-29, 2023) organized by Department of General Medicine at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly kicked off with a bang on the theme ‘Pearls of Medicine’.
The DAY-1 unfolded with Oral Presentations, Scientific Sessions & Symposiums on Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Rheumatology & Respiratory, delivered by Dr Rishi Sethi, Dr Abhishek Singh, Dr Kausar Usman, Dr KK Sawlani & Dr Prof Rajiv Garg from KGMU Lucknow; Dr Vinod Kumar Dixit—BHU Varanasi; Dr Amit Goel—SGPGI Lucknow; Dr Venkatesh Pai—AIIMS Rishikesh; Dr Rohini Handa—Apollo New Delhi; Dr OP Murty—AIIMS Delhi etc.
The first day witnessed grand inaugural by Chief Guest, Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust & Chief Patron UPAPICON along with dignitaries on dais including Guest of Honour, Dr Jyotirmoy Pal, Dean, ICP; Aditya Murti, Trust Secretary & Patron UPAPI; Air Marshal Dr MS Butola, Principal IMS & Patron UPAPI; Dr Smita Gupta, Organizing Secretary, UPAPI; Dr SC Chaudhary, Secretary UPAPI; Dr KK Sawlani, Chairman UPAPI; Dr Saibal Chakraborty, Chairman Elect UPAPI; Dr MP Rawal & Dr Rajeev Goel, Organizing Chairpersons UPAPI & several others. The welcome address was given by Dr Neelima Mehrotra, Dean UG & Professor & Head, Department of Ophthalmology.
There were numerous knowledge-driven scientific sessions held on Gestational Diabetes, key points in HFpEF, recent advances in Medical Management, Delirium in Elderly, Initiation of Insulin Therapy, approaching patient with Rheumatic disease, Erectile Dysfunction, treating severe Asthma-role of Biologicals, Understanding Spondyloarthropathy & so on. Later, workshops on intriguing topics & Brain Storming PG Quiz added to the day’s event. The day ended with giving away of medals & certificates to Past Secretary & Chairman of UPAPI 2022, followed by release of a Souvenir of UPAPICON 2023. Towards the end, Dr Smita Gupta delivered vote of thanks to all.
