In yet another groundbreaking achievement, Dr Harshit Agarwal, Assistant Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine & Trauma at SRMS Hospital, Bareilly whose also India’s first Mch Emergency & Trauma Surgeon, recently performed a life-saving miracle at SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly.
Aryan, a brave 5-year-old, faced a horrifying accident with an alleged history of Road Traffic Injury (RTI), after which, his life hung in the balance as he suffered from a Grade 5 Liver Trauma and brought to SRMS Hospital after 10-days of sustaining trauma in a state of septic shock due to bike fuel leak.
With unwavering determination, sheer skill & dedication, Dr. Harshit Agarwal sprang into action, and initially placed a drain in the abdomen and resuscitated the child patient. After stabilizing the patient, MRCP and CT scans were done that showed bile leak from Liver Parenchyma and ducts of Luschka.
Speaking about it, Dr Harshit says, “Grade 5 Liver Trauma is considered to be the most fatal and high grade of liver trauma with high mortality rate. Seeing the condition of the child and after stabilizing him, a diagnostic laparoscopy was initiated, which is a procedure filled with uncertainty. I performed peritoneal lavage, expertly cleaning the abdominal cavity, and then carried out the intricate ligation of the duct of Luschka, while repairing the biliary injury. Aryan was discharged successfully after 7 days, full of life and smiles.”
However, days turned into a tense waiting game as little Aryan fought for his life. But with Dr. Harshit's expertise and unwavering commitment, Aryan made a miraculous recovery. Today, we celebrate Aryan's triumphant journey to health, and salute the heroic efforts of Dr. Harshit Agarwal.
