MIRACULOUS RECOVERY AT SRMS HOSPITAL: 4.5-YEAR-OLD GIRL DEFEATS ACUTE MYELOID LEUKEMIA (BLOOD CANCER) AGAINST ALL ODDS!

In a remarkable tale of perseverance & medical expertise, Shri Ram Murti Smarak (SRMS) Hospital, Bareilly, celebrates the exceptional strength & successful battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) by a brave 4.5-year-old girl, Anaviya Noori, a resident of Bilwa, Bareilly.
Under the diligent care of expert team led by Dr Adadi Srinivasa Naidu, a Medical Oncologist & Professor Dr Sandhya Chauhan, Department of Pediatrics at SRMS Hospital, the girl underwent chemotherapy with remarkable resilience.

Sharing case details, Dr Sandhya says, “Facing a daunting diagnosis of AML, 4.5-year-old was diagnosed as a case of Acute Myeloid Leukemia in January this year. To help her avail the therapy, she was enrolled under government’s Aayushman Bharat Scheme. Initially, she was on standard chemotherapy protocol by Dr Srinivas, which was given through a Chemo port so to prevent frequent pricks & IV Cannulation. However, the 7-day chemo was tolerated well by the child, but the journey took an unexpected turn when, one month into treatment, she developed high grade fever with multiple systemic complications like diarrhoea, loss of appetite & hair, compounded by low haemoglobin & platelet counts. She again had to be transfused PRBC & platelets nearly on daily basis. Ultimately, the child improved & was then put on second cycle of Chemo, wherein she again needed multiple transfusions. At the end of second cycle, the repeat Bone Marrow evaluation of child finally showed recovery.”

Dr Adadi Srinivasa Naidu puts, “Undeterred by challenges, the medical team at SRMS Hospital sprang into action, providing round-the-clock care & tailored interventions to address each complication. With collaborative efforts of departments of Pediatrics, Oncology, Transfusion Medicine & other ancillary services, the girl-child emerged victorious in her battle against cancer.“
