SHRI RAM MURTI SMARAK INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES INSPIRES BUDDING MEDICOS TO EMBRACE ‘NASHA MUKT BHARAT ABHIYAAN’: PROMOTES DRUG-FREE LIVING & MEDITATION

In line with the awareness campaign & vision of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India in collaboration with Art of Living, Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly organized an insightful ‘De-Addiction’ session for the students of MBBS (Batch 2023) & Paramedical (Batch 2022 & 2023). The impactful session was delivered byspecial guest SHAMA GUPTA, a Senior Teacher at Art of Living, who enlightened the students about the adverse effects of substance abuse and the importance of maintaining a drug-free & healthy lifestyle.

During the session, Shama Gupta emphasized upon healthy mind & soul, along with the importance of meditation and psychosocial health for the welfare of humanity. She administered an oath to the students, urging them to abstain from drug abuse, stress & anxiety. During the enlightening session, she introduced various yogic practices such as Laughter Yoga, Bhastrika Pranayama, Panchkosh, Sudarshan Kriya etc, underscoring their benefits in maintaining mental & physical well-being.

Earlier and towards the end of the programme, Air Marshal Dr MS Butola, Principal SRMS IMS, extended a warm welcome to Shama Gupta in the presence of other faculty members, staff & students. Dr Butola also stressed upon the significance of integrating meditation and yogic practices into daily routines for overall well-being. He further highlighted the widespread adoption of cardio-pulmonary exercises during the COVID pandemic, which not only strengthened physical health but also promoted mental stability & positive energy.
