UNLOCKING INSIGHTS INTO PARASITIC INFECTIONS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2-DAY ‘UP-UK TROPACON 2024’ AT SHRI RAM MURTI SMARAK INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES!

The Department of Microbiology at SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly organized 5th Annual Conference of UP-UK Chapter of the Indian Academy of Tropical Parasitology titled ‘UP-UK TROPACON 2024’ on ‘Neglected Tropical Parasitic Diseases — Unawareness to Awareness’. The conference brought together leading medical experts & researchers, offering insights into parasitic infectious diseases.

The two-day conference witnessed workshop, award winning oral paper presentations, poster presentations, scientific deliberations, presidential orations, panel discussions etc. The hands-on-workshop on theme ‘Haemoparasites— An Approach to Comprehensive Diagnosis’ covered topics like Molecular Diagnosis of Malaria by RTPCR (Open & Close System), Peripheral Blood Smear Examination for Malarial Parasite & Rapid Diagnostic tests for Malaria diagnosis. However, presidential oration highlighted usefulness of IT & AI in diagnosis of parasitic diseases, while panel discussion focused on ‘Lymphatic Filariasis’.

However, these insightful topics were delivered by Prof Ujjala Ghosal, Head, Department of Microbiology, AIIMS, Kalyani & Founder & President—IATP, UP-UK Chapter; Dr Manodeep Sen, Professor of Microbiology, Dr RML Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow & Secretary—IATP, UP-UK Chapter;Prof Tuhina Banerjee, IMS BHU, Varanasi; Dr Aroop Mohanty, AIIMS, Gorakhpur; Prof Haris M Khan & Prof Adil Raza from JLNMC AMU, Aligarh etc. The program concluded with felicitation of eminent faculties & delegates. Vote of thanks was delivered by Prof Vandana Sardana, Department of Microbiology, SRMSIMS.

The conference was earlier inaugurated by Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust. Prof Dr Rahul Kumar Goel, Head, Department of Microbiology elaborated on the conference theme in the presence of Aditya Murti, Trust Secretary; Air Marshal Dr MS Butola, Principal IMS; Dr RP Singh, Medical Superintendent; Dr Neelima Mehrotra, Dean UG; Dr Rohit Sharma, Dean PG & many others.
