Indian College of Radiation Oncology (ICRO)—the Academic Wing of Association of Radiation Oncologists of India (AROI) conducted 20th AROI ICRO Radiobiology 2023 (Intas) Teaching Course (North Zone) on ‘Clinical Radiobiology’ for Radiation Oncologists on April 15, 2023 at SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly that was a resounding success.
The program kicked-off with an inauguration by Chief Guest, Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust in the presence of Course Director-Professor Manoj Gupta, President AROI, Ex-Dean AIIMS Rishikesh & Head-Radiation Oncology; Aditya Murti, Director Administration, SRMS Trust; Dr MS Butola, Principal SRMSIMS; Dr RP Singh, Medical Superintendent, SRMSIMS; Dr Piyush Kumar-the Course Coordinator & Head of Department of Radiation Oncology, SRMS IMS along with other faculties and delegates. The inaugural was well-coordinated by Dr Ayush Garg, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology, SRMSIMS.
The unique Radiobiology Teaching Course was conducted & divided into five modules, starting from the Basics Concept-Building Lectures to the Radiobiology aspect of IMRT, Stereotactic Radiotherapy, and Re-Irradiation followed by Practical Applications of these Radiobiological principles. Throughout the session, the residents got a chance to interact & clarify their doubts with Professor Manoj Gupta. Attended by 60 residents from 12 Medical Colleges of North India including the host, the various medical colleges from where PG students came were IGMC Shimla, MAMC Delhi, KMNH Prayagraj, JKCI Kanpur, Batra Hospital Delhi, AMU Aligarh, SNMC Agra, Medanta Gurugram, KGMC Lucknow, Dr RMLIMS Lucknow and MPMMCC Varanasi.
The motivational and inspiring session concluded with an overwhelmingly positive response from the residents, who expressed their gratitude towards Professor Manoj Gupta for his tireless efforts and unique teaching style. Dr Piyush Kumar delivered a vote of thanks in the valedictory function, and the certificates were distributed to all resident delegates who attended the course.
