Neha Agarwal had few criteria in mind when it came to final placements – she wanted to work with a reputed firm in software development, her area of interest. The B. Tech. – Information Technology student of Batch 2017 at Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology (SRMS CET), Bareilly had her dream come true as she got placed with a renowned name like KPMG Global Services, Bangalore. She will be working in her preferred job profile and is raring to go. With a promising future ahead, she looks back on her journey from Day 1 to final placement.
Overall grooming for four years
SRMS group of institutions are well known for blending academic rigour with personality development of students. SRMS makes students confident individuals and professionals, who are appealing prospects for recruiters. Neha agrees: “I participated in dance competitions, fashion shows, and other cultural events that boosted my confidence. There is a big change in my personality from Day 1 and I think it helped me a lot during the placement process.”
Solid all-round support from SRMS
Neha managed to impress recruiters with her sound knowledge and easy presence. But she admits it would not have been possible without the efforts of faculty members and the TDP cell at her college. “Faculty members were always available to answer our queries and gave us extra attention before the placements. The TDP cell had gone all out to bring us a variety of exciting placement opportunities, suited to our interests and goals.”
Special preparation for placements
According to Neha, the internships offered by her college were crucial in helping her get practical exposure. It is a desired quality for recruitments with top names in the industry. She also talks about special placement prep that got her through with flying colours. “I attended several mock drills, which told me what recruiters were looking for. It also helped me brush up my technical and communication skills.”
Success mantra for placements
Neha remains grateful to her college for organizing several recruitment drives on campus for students. She also sheds light on how to make yourself an appealing prospect to your future employers. “I think it is important to do your research about the companies as it tells you what they are looking for. I also believe you need to get the best out of the sessions held in the college because they make you confident about answering questions and presenting yourself,” she says.
Difficult goodbyes
Thrilled to start her professional journey, Neha is also emotional as she bids adieu to her favourite campus. From reading morning newspapers to attending seminars, learning from faculty members, and hanging out with classmates, there are many memories she takes back with her. “These four years of my life will always remain special. I will cherish those moments with fondness and try and visit the campus whenever I can,” she states.
