SHRI RAM MURTI SMARAK COLLEGE IGNITES FITNESS FERVOUR WITH A WEEK-LONG ‘FIT INDIA’ CELEBRATION!

Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology (SRMS CET), Bareilly conducted ‘FIT INDIA WEEK’ recently, with an aim to foster a culture of fitness & well-being among students, faculties & staff. The Fit India Week, aligned with Government of India’s Fit India Movement Campaign, featured exciting events such as T-10 Cricket Tournament, Fitness Lecture Series, Fitness Pledges, Poster Presentation, Yoga & Health Camp.

The engaging week-long celebration of fitness began with T-10 Cricket Tournament wherein three teams—Super Kings, Fearless Eagles & Supa Strikas demonstrated their impressive sport skills, and in the Grand Finals, Fearless Eagles emerged victorious by 6 wickets against Super Kings.

Thereafter, the event proceeded with ‘Fitness Lecture Series’ led by Dr Sovan Mohanty, Associate Professor & DSW, ECE Department, SRMS CET, on ‘Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body’. During the lecture, he emphasized the pivotal role of exercise & fitness in our lives, significance of physical activity, correlation between fitness & mental well-being, and also highlighted the profound impact of fitness routines on instilling confidence & resilience in individuals. Thereafter, Dr Sovan advocated the acceptance of failure as a stepping stone toward achieving success & encouraged attendees to embrace setbacks & learn from them. This was followed by ‘Fitness Pledge’ wherein attendees pledged to incorporate exercise & fitness into their daily routines.

The event continued with ‘Poster Presentation’ wherein nearly 20 students from all batches of pharmacy displayed their creativity through attractive posters with relevant captions & slogans on ‘importance of fitness’. After evaluation of posters by Aafreen & Mansi Rastogi of Pharmacy Department in the presence of Dr Arti Gupta, Director Pharmacy, the winners were announced wherein Chahak Agarwal (Batch 2022); Parul Gupta (Batch 2020); Arsh Singh (Batch 2022) clinched first, second & third prize respectively. However, the consolation prize was given to Keshav Baghel (Batch 2023).

The Fit India Week culminated with ‘Yoga & Health Camp’, aiming to foster holistic health, physical fitness, mental resilience & overall wellness. During the camp, participants not only imbibed the art of performing each asana with precision, but also grasped the nuanced intricacies of medication.
