SHRI RAM MURTI SMARAK ENGINEERING COLLEGE EMBRACES BHARATIYA SPORTS: HOSTS KHO-KHO TOURNAMENT IN LINE WITH NEP 2020!

With an aim to enhance sportsmanship and to promote traditional Indian games, the Tyro Club of Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology (SRMS CET), Bareilly recently conducted a ‘Kho-Kho Tournament’for both first & second-year boys & girls.

On the occasion of the second anniversary of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, this tournament was a great step taken by Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan & Home Minister Shri Amit Shah who urged the students of Indian schools and higher education system to play Bharatiya games.The vision of the event, which was an initiative of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Division, Ministry of Education, Government of India, was to transform India into a thriving sports-loving country where each child must develop mental & physical skills, and introduced to Bharatiya games.

The Kho-Kho tournament that saw the presence of Dr Sovan Mohanty, DSW, SRMS CET and various faculties, featured five teams namely Speed Chasers, Dominators, Cheetah Challengers, The Warriors & Thunder Chasers,who proved their mettle by demonstrating their agility and strategic prowess on the field. The tournament witnessed a closely contested finale between The Warriors & Thunder Chasers, which was ultimately won by The Warriors. On the other hand, in a heart-pounding finale match between Speed Chasers & Dominators, Speed Chasers emerged victorious. Recognising outstanding individual performances, Best Player titleswere given to Gauri Gangwarfrom the girls’ category and Prashant Chauhan from the boys’ category. Overall, the event fostered a sense of sportsmanship, unity & pride among participants.
