The Women Cell of Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology (SRMS CET), Pharmacy, Bareilly recently organized an insightful Guest Lecture on ‘Risk Factors & Screening of Carcinoma Cervix & Carcinoma Breast’ keeping in tune with Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Tailored especially for SRMS CET Female staff & students, the Special Guest & Keynote Speaker of the awareness session was Dr Rashika Sachan, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology, MD Radiotherapy at SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly. The session began with ceremonial lamp lightning, graced by the presence of Dr Arti Gupta, Director Pharmacy & Chairperson Women Cell; Dr Nita Yadav, Professor & Academic Coordinator, Pharmacy along with other faculty members & staff.

During an engaging session, Dr Rashika Sachan shed light on the risks, prevention and screening methods for Breast & Cervical Cancer. She explained that these two types of cancer are among the most common in women worldwide, and are steadily on the rise, causing more deaths in women than any other cancer. Dr Sachan discussed various risk factors such as increasing age, inherited genes, radiation exposure, obesity, a family history of breast cancer, postmenopausal hormone therapy, alcohol consumption etc. She further emphasized on the significance of cancer screening, which plays a vital role in reducing cancer-related morbidity & mortality.

The beneficial session concluded with an interactive Q&A round, wherein Dr Sachan addressed the queries of attendees’ including students & faculty members. Later, Dr Shashi Verma, Professor Pharmacy, delivered a vote of thanks & Dr Arti Gupta presented a souvenir to the special guest.
