SRMS ENGINEERING COLLEGE COMMEMORATED ANTI-RAGGING WEEK WITH AN ENGAGING SEMINAR & ESSAY CONTEST

With an aim to increase awareness against ragging that’s a punishable offence, an Anti-Ragging Week was held at SRMS College of Engineering and Technology (SRMS CET), Bareilly, wherein galore of activities were organised for both faculty members & students, encouraging them to promote anti-ragging measures. The objective of the event was to curb the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions, as recommended by University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.

IMPACTFUL SEMINAR
During a week-long event, a seminar on the topic “The Social and Psychological Impact of Ragging” was conducted for faculty members, addressing multifaceted implications of ragging on students and the overall learning environment. It’s commonly observed that despite a government ban & Supreme Court intervention, some individuals still support ragging, and in response to this persisting issue, seminar focussed on eradicating the scourge of ragging in educational institutions, as well as punitive measures.

ESSAY CONTEST
An Essay Writing Competition on the topic “Creating Awareness among youth regarding issue of Anti-ragging” was also organized by the Pharmquimica Club at SRMS CET (Pharmacy), Bareilly, which was a great opportunity for Pharmacy students to pen down their views, acquaint themselves with anti-ragging measures, and be prepared to stand against any ragging-related violence. In the end, winners were announced, wherein B Pharm Students from Batch 2020 namely Arya Gupta, Manvi Shakya & Shaily Sani grabbed first, second & third position respectively.

The week-long activity ended on a wise note, educating the youth & enlightening the faculty about the
consequences of ragging.
