In an effort to increase awareness about the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), and the need to protect them, SRMS College of Engineering & Technology (SRMS CET), Bareilly recently organized an IPR Awareness Program at its campusto showcase its commitment to promoting innovation and research in its academic programs. The event was designed to educate students, faculty, and staff about the various forms of IPR, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights, documentation procedures for the Government of India, and how they can protect their ideas, inventions, and creations from infringement. However, the students were ecstatic to learn about such unique paradigms that will be integral for their career.
During the event, the special guest and keynote speaker was Rajneesh Pratap Singh, NIPAM Officer, Indian Patent Office, New Delhi; Examiner of Patents & Design (Group ‘A’ Gazette Officer) &O/o CGPDTM, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India.
In his address, he delivered a lecture on IPR awareness, and informed about this campaign that’s launched by the Government of India to celebrate ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, and commemorate 75 years of Independence. It was told that under this initiative, Ministries and Departments are hosting various activities for ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat’, due to which,Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) launched the ‘National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM)’ program last year, through which awareness can be generated in our nation.
One of the key objectives of the event was to encourage students to pursue innovative ideas and creative projects, and to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect their Intellectual Property. As such, the event was well-received by students, who found the sessions engaging and informative.
