Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology, Bareilly in collaboration with RGNIIPM Nagpur, Ministry of Commerce and Industry Government of India organized a one-day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Patent, Designs filing on 29th September 2022.
Mr. Pankaj Prabhakar Borkar, Deputy Controller of Patents & Designs served as a resource person for the workshop. Mr. Borkar has more than 20 years of experience in the Central Government Office under the Patent Office, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Mr. Borkar highlighted the importance of patents and documenting ideas. He is hopeful that India will be known for its scientific creations in different fields ranging from agriculture to space research in the coming years. He has also discussed the basics of innovation and patents.
Mr. Borkar elucidated on important concerns related to patent and design and discussed the documentation procedures, criteria for financial support, online application procedures, and the list of the different forms and documents needed to apply for patents.
Mr. Borkar also discussed protecting research and publications to ensure the benefits to the public. He also cleared several myths and misconceptions related to patents and design filing.
Attended by over 250 students and faculty members from different departments, the session was an excellent insight into the importance and procedure of obtaining patents for future innovators.
