Ensuring a healthier tomorrow, Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology (Pharmacy), Bareilly organized an insightful ‘NBEMS CPR AWARENESS PROGRAMME’, in accordance with Union Health Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya’s nationwide public awareness campaign being launched. The session took place in collaboration with National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

During the awareness programme, the students, faculty and staff of SRMS CET (Pharmacy) participated in the CPR session, wherein, Dr Abhijat Seth, President, NBEMS, emphasized the critical role of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) in preventing cardiac deaths among the youth. His awareness talk was followed by another awareness session by Dr Sanjeev Mittal and Dr Debashish Dhar from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, wherein they emphasized on why such incidences takes place & how a common man takes sequential steps so that he/she can save a life in such scenario. They also provided information regarding how to ensure scene safety, recognize cardiac arrest, check responsiveness, perform CPR, call for help, check pulse & breathing & briefed on the device known as AED to save lives as soon as possible.

During the awareness session, the participants were introduced to the helpline number 112 in case of any emergency situation, and also told that the cycle of 30 compressions and 2 breaths while using AED should be continued rigorously till the help arises or victim starts showing responses. It was highlighted how performing CPR while waiting for medical assistance can greatly increase a person’s chance of survival from cardiac arrest. However, the programme proved to be very knowledgeable for the students, faculty and all the staff, who joined hands to champion this life-saving skill. The session took place in the presence of Dr Arti Gupta, Director Pharmacy; Dr Jitendra Singh Yadav, Chief Proctor, and Dr Nita Yadav, Academic Coordinator, SRMS CET, Bareilly.
